#この世に和訳が出回ってないものの、宇宙を揺るがす名曲シリーズ。
ということでエモバンド界隈からパニックを引っ張り出します。「Nicotine」とパニックの中でも私的トップ2を誇るこの曲を。男性目線で、
①恋愛が成就したものの、始まった＝いつか終わる。破滅に向かっているという恐怖と
②相手には、自分よりも条件の揃っている特別な男性の影すらある。そんな切なさと
③なのに自分を選んでくれた、どうにかしたいという覚悟とともに
④前後不覚になるほどの、止められない恋心を歌ってます。
「i want to love you」ではなく
「i want to complicate you」とAメロで言ってるの、ロマンチックが過ぎる。
フロントマン兼ボーカルのブレンドンは、
「電子音をかなり使って挑戦したパニックらしくない曲。でも最後のサビでバンドサウンドに回帰して、思いを爆発させてるところがお気に入り」と言ってます。
ワードそのものたちは理知的なのに、感情の波にのまれて狂ってる様を体現してる彼特有の歌詞が好きです。
マイケミがジャックナイフとコミック両手に持った少年、FOBが年齢不詳天才気質の狐、オールタイムロウがパリピに見えて実は現実世界に悩み苦しむ長身イケメンの青年やとしたら、パニックはダンスフロアで気取りたいもののいつまでも週末むかえられんサラリーマンって感じ。歌詞だけ見たら。笑

the word "complicate" is most likely being used to mean fall in love with here. in the lyrics he rquests "one last kiss", before they are old enough to face the consequences of their actions and their invincibility fades (i really love it).
he probably knows that the relationship might turn into something more and their feelings might become complicated or poisonous for both of them, therefore affecting his life. he doesn’t want that but at the same time he’s also fascinated with her. also he knows what’s best for himself, so he tells her not to let him proceed with this and it will bring painful consequences. the relationship could end in disaster but rather than taking it slow, he wants it to escalate rather quickly.
in an interview Brendon discusses the arrangement of the track, which unlike what Panic! has created in the past. "most of it is electronic through the whole song and then at the end, it just busts into this big rock moment to finish it off, which I really like".
